Decorate A Cupcake Kit

It's a happy, happy day!
Today is my birthday...yay!
(I'm 37 in case you were curious)
I love birthdays.  I love parties. I love celebrating.
With that in mind,  I came up with the perfect way to celebrate someone.

Wouldn't you love to get this little cupcake in box? I mean, how stinkin' fun would it be to find this sitting on your desk at work or if your little one opened their lunch at school and found this waiting for them? Here's how I did it...

The first step is putting fun sprinkles in a paper straw.  This won't work for bigger sprinkles but for nonpareil sprinkles, it works great. To get them in there, I created a paper funnel and made sure the tip was super tiny so it would fit in the straw.
I bent one end and hot glued it and after putting in the sprinkles, I folded over the top, punched a hole though the folded end and tied it off with bakers twine with a tag labeled sprinkles. This secures it closed but makes it easy to open when decorating the cupcake.
Next, I made the little mini bag (for one) of icing. I cut off the zip closure part of a sandwich size bag and fit the bag around a small bowl so I could easily scoop icing in without messing up the top. I tied it off with a tiny rubber band, twine and a handwritten label.
Oh and I baked the cupcakes using this vanilla cupcake recipe that makes only two cupcakes from How Sweet It Is.
See? Mini things are happy things.
I made a cute little tag that matches the treat box from Martha Stewart.
And if it's a birthday cupcake, tape a little candle to the front for an extra dash of cuteness.
Now whoever receives this sweet box of goodness can give the little icing bag a snip and ice their little cupcake and add a shake of sprinkles.
Yum!

Now I hope someone makes this for me today. (wink) :)

  9. Happy Happy Birthday! What a treat you gave US on your special day. I don't know why, but this particular idea just really speaks to me. I can only imagine how happy it would make someone if they found this little gift awaiting them on a special day! And it could be ANY holiday... My favorite is the straw with sprinkles. It's just too fun! My initial favorite, when the photo popped up, was the label you made to match the treat bag, but when I finally saw the sprinkles-filled straw, I was done in! Love it. Love you. Happy 37th (so far, 37 isn't that bad, fyi!!)
