Embellish a Birthday Candle

So I have birthdays on the brain.
My Ella turns five at the end of July and two weeks later my Cati turns 7.  They used to share a party but...they are both quite different. Ella is my girl who likes all thing "boy." Last year she had a firetruck party. It's what she wanted.  And my girly girl, party lovin' self can't say no because I love her more than my life and who wants to throw a party for a kid that they won't like?

So this year?  An astronaut party.  I actually love this idea.  So we go to the party store to get ideas and she sees a number 5 candle that she wants because it is red.  She is into red lately.

But its is the plain one.  Not even the one with confetti dots.  Just the 5.  The one that I think may have cost me $.49 to purchase.  Love this girl to pieces.

But I saw a pin the other day to glam out a candle and thought...this would be the perfect candle to make pretty but more to her theme.  So I grabbed some star confetti and mod podge and went to it.  I have to admit I didn't even look at the pin because I just went with the idea and winged it. My usual method.

Here are the complicated steps I did:  Brush on glue, sprinkle with confetti. Let dry.
I hope I didn't leave a step out.
Now it matches our theme and it was fun, fast and easy. And ANYONE can do this too. :)

That's it. Sweet and simple.

P.S. I can't thank all of you enough for your kind comments and loving support in my last post. It means the world to me to know that you like my blog and even more that you like the girl behind it.  I am blessed by each of you.

  1. Everything is better with a bit of sparkle - especially stars :) really love this idea!

I am just planning my daughter's 5th party, she is a typical girly girl - so a princess party it is ( but with a bit of super heroes thrown in for the boys!)
