Tinkerbell Party + DIY Ideas

I am really excited to show you Cati's beautiful birthday party from yesterday.  I was pleasantly surprised how this party came together on a budget.  I was forced to get creative and it turned out better than I had hoped.
All the elements of the tablescape and decor were results of me shopping my house or the dollar tree.
You know there is nothing more fun then to get pretty results on the cheap!
The leaf place mats (made from leaves of a fake ficus tree) were left over from another tablescape project. I bought the Tinkerbell plates from Walmart, the tablecloth and tablecloth runner are from the dollar store along with the flowers which I pulled the leaves and heads off the stems to use in the different pillars. I had the grapevine leaves, moss, rocks, and wood pieces already.
My attempt here was to play off of Tinkerbell's love of lost things.  I didn't want to lose the natural feel of the table so I went with neutral wood buttons, spools, and clothespins to scatter around everything.
The faux bois pillars are made with dollar store shelf liner and old candle holders.
I love these little mason jar mugs.  I bought chalkboard vinyl labels to personalize each glass and the pom pom paper straws were the perfect finishing touch.
I grabbed two sticks from the yard to hang this mini little garland that reads "Cati's Pixie Hollow."
These cute little cardboard flowers are also from the dollar tree.  You get 2/$1.  I used a hole punch and some ribbon to hang them off each chair.
Another way for me to save money was to DIY my decorations so I made the garland, wall flowers, and mini poms out of 6 packages of tissue paper that cost 99¢ each. I hope to have a tutorial on the wall flowers for you soon.
I bought flip flops and headbands for the girls to add pom poms (like Tinkerbell when she made her cute little pom poms shoes). I think I cranked out like one gajillion pom poms over the last few weeks.

The girls decided to make headbands with cute little bear ears.  Oh my cuteness.
And of course, their flip flops turned out just awesome!
I make the same homemade ice cream sundae cake every year.  I wrote out "Cati is 7" with melted chocolate left over from her birthday bear pancakes that morning. :) And of course it needed a pom pom cake bunting.
Oh that face.  My heart could burst.
And don't forget our sweet little favors (glitter "pixie dust" nail polish).  They were waiting by the door for each little girl when they left. They were a hit too. :)

It was such a lovely party.  I am pretty tired about now.  My girls having birthdays exactly 2 weeks apart wears this momma out.  But those babies are worth it.  And it gives me fun stuff to share with you.

I will try to share tree pillars and wall flowers this week. Until then...I'm sleeping for possibly 24 hours.

  11. Loved your ideas for the party! The girls must have had an amazing time! How did you attach the Pom poems to the flip flops so they would not fall off? Thanks! PS I loved your upside down post of the chalkboard, I also find that I'm rushing to do a project because I get so excited to see the finished product, only to discover that I've done something-like making the lettering upside down-so you're not alone! Your ideas are wonderful!
